That’s why I’m glad I live in an apartment building — no need to worry about missing the garbage truck, because all I have to do is put it in the dumpster no matter what day it is.
Living alone in my own house, I can generally go four weeks (if necessary) without taking the garbage to the curb.
Recyclables is another matter: paper – once a week aluminum cans and plastic – approx. every other week other cans, bottles and cardboard - approx. once a month.
We take out recycle on Mon for pickup on Tues, then take out garbage on Thurs for pick up on Fri.This strip being in Canada if on the Pacific side then could wait to take out garbage due to either bears or perhaps wolves rooting around
It’s true that sometimes Michael deals with the trash, but for someone with an 11-year-old, I can tell you that often, you do better to get the trash out yourself. Also, if she yelled at him when he was too slow or otherwise made him go out in the cold morning because she forgot, everyone here would be complaining about her for that.
She does get a little panicky, and as someone who is also more panicky and definitely imperfect, I appreciate it! For those wanting perfect parents and kids, there is Family Circus. Nothing and nobody is ever late, dinner is always perfect, and the kids never fight, get in trouble for more than a couple minutes (for making a mess). The cartoon to watch!
Six years in Lower Mainland BC and I never saw a bear or wolf. I did score some prestige points with a UCSC alumnus because I had seen a banana slug there and he never had.

Live in a community where I can keep my garbage and recycle cans at the side of the house and they will be picked up on schedule.
