It’s a good thing Farley is a dumb breed. Do that to a smarter dog or a cat, and there will be retaliation.

Some of the funniest strips have no words at all. My son did put Christmas balls on the dog’s ears and this was the result. I see in the second panel that I only drew Elly in part. Strange how the eye fills in the details that aren’t there. In my later work, I meticulously drew everything clearly, and I think I lost this fluid spontaneity.

Does Farley have pierced ears?

My dog did something similar last year. She managed to get an ornament hanging in her tail fur! The wife and I were in hysterics laughing so hard as she wagged her tail trying to get rid of the ornament.

When I was little, I used to bring how the worst (naughty) jokes, that I was required to tell my mom BEFORE I could tell my older sisters. I would get, “OK David, that one you can’t tell to your sisters”. My mom told me years later that she and my dad would roar with laughter when she relayed some of the “rejected” jokes later that night.

At least that wasn’t as bad as the cow that got her head caught in one of those plastic pedal cars – walking around the pasture with that on her head! (From an on-line article about “How did they get there?”

I wished left the bulbs on Farley’s ears. I know an old strip kids are grown.
