If only, Lio…

Hey, at least they’re trying.

Yeah! The stuff in your head is always ever-so-much better than reality, Lio. –Another lesson learned.

Ah the truth comes out - like Calvin,it’s all in Leo’s head.

There is something even more frightening following me … spammers!

I think Lio needs to pull out the Universal Studios Monster Box Set.

Methinks those kids picked the wrong target…

The monsters have a Gahan Wilson-esque look to them.

Pretenders

Wow! The doll from “Trilogy of Terror”! Who would expect to see that in a comic strip! It transcends monster cliches.

Costumes are usually better than the real thing.

If they come to Lio’s house on Halloween, they’d better hope for treats, ‘cause they won’t like the tricks.

If they go trick-or-treating, I only hope they don’t live anywhere near my neighborhood.

P.S. Lio is thinking a lot like Calvin in this one!

Hmmm… existential musings on people you think are your friends but are really just wearing masks…

Of course, you’re all assuming that the “kids in costumes” version is the reality, rather than the other way around — that the monsters are real, and passing themselves off as kids in costumes when Lio looks. The latter would not be at all out of line with the strip.

That said, the sigh does point to the former.
