Bill Hinds said (in yesterday’s comments) that he’s exploring other media so that “Cleats” might continue in another form. While I’m hoping that works out, it means we probably won’t finish up with a “flashforward” to see how Jack, Abby, Mondo, Peri, Dee, and Edith wind up as adults. That would have been fun. (Do Mondo and Abby end up married? I’d hope so. Do Edith and Dee end up married? I’d hope not.)
Cleats and Tank are two of my very favorite strips! I know Bill Hinds has been at it for a long time, and I guess everyone deserves to retire, or even to get sick and tired of it, but I will definitely miss this gem.
started reading Tank way back when he was still a fumblemouthed former football player turned sports reporter (and when he was taken for psychiatric help to get over his belief that anything dropped near him was a fumble that needed to be jumped on). only saw this strip last year when i joined the online community. i’ll miss it if it goes, but wish Bill the best for the future.
I wonder if the decline in polls is the only reason Bill is ending the strip? Cleats has a lot more subscribers than other strips on here, some of which only publish a couple of times a week or are in reruns. I hate to see another good one go.

Its been going down in comic polls for a while. A shame really, since this strip actually got me (for one) interested in soccer.

Next Sunday is going to be a sad day – the last day for both Cleats & MyCage.

Come next Monday, I’ll start reading Hinds’ other strip, Tank McMamara.

This is great! I love bluegills too, and I learned to clean them at about that age. One of the best eating fish in the world, and highly sustainable.

Anyone remember the name of the other short-lived one he did that featured Tank’s neighbors? The couple still make occasional appearances in Tank.
I really liked that strip and was sad when it ended. I’ll miss this one too, I’m sure.
