I have a blind friend who hates electric vehicles. He thinks that they should beep or something. I tell him that he just needs to sharpen his hearing. (Ok. I’m an ass.)

There’s actually a movement to force electrics to make more noise.

From the beginning there’s been a movement to force E-cars to have speakers putting out some kind of noise to warn people.

It’s actually a plot to get rid of the people who walk and text. Blind people are just considered “minor collateral damage”.

In the early years of autos, some jurisdictions enacted laws requiring cars to have someone proceed them with a flag or lantern to warn oncoming horse teams…

I wish I had an option, instead of the horn, that would sound like those bells we used to have on bikes to warn pedestrians without scaring them.

I have noticed that too many pedestrians just start crossing in front of cars and never look either way. Especially in parking lots. Death wish. Or really stupid

Of course, it’s a little much to expect anyone to actually pay attention to their surroundings!

According to my mother, she had a pair of maiden aunts who drove an electric car in the 1910s in Duluth MN or Superior WI.They were famous (infamous?) for sneaking up behind people and honking their horn.
