Peekaboo: So many choices...the cheap and gaudy... The bright and shiny... The fragile...the cherished heirlooms... I like to sample everything at the ornaments buffet!
We put cat-friendly ornaments on the lower third, delicate ones above that. But since my wife and I have always had cats we own no ‘fragile heirloom’ ornaments. Every few years, like this one, we have no tree because we have kittens, this year two 7 month old fosters. Anyone wanna’ adopt two wonderful kitty sisters? I’m serious! http://www.lafos.org/kittens-for-two
My grandson (2.5 yrs) experienced his first glass ornament this year, in the most unexpected way. He got his hands on one, then tossed it, and stood there shocked for several minutes when it, detonated. His expression so interesting that though he got scolded about tossing the bulb, it was hard for us to keep from laughing at the look on his face.
Nine years of living in a house with cats, I’ve learned to either leave the bottom level empty or use unbreakable ornaments down there. This past Christmas was the first time one of my cats climbed into the tree.

All cats do this, and now I’m missing my own cats who are up in kitty heaven.
