Poor old Vikings. They’ll never shed this modern depiction of themselves with horned helmets. Not one horned Viking helmet has ever been found. The last thing a warrior wants is a convenient hand grip for his enemy to use while he cuts his throat. The horned Viking helmet was invented in 1876 by the costume director for a Wagner opera.
