Matt nails it again. Indeed, fake news and disinformation are absolutely getting in the way of real journalism today. Thank you for your keen insight! We are watching journalism crumble before our very eyes. Verily.

High school dropouts (in other words, Trump voters) are much much MUCH more likely to believe fake news than people with the sense that God gave a radish!

“There is one major thing wrong with this cartoon: Journalists have not been doing their job.”I would at least partially disagree on journalists not doing their jobs, they may well have written reports that were quite factual, but never distributed. Unlike some times in the past, many or most of todays media outlets are owned by one of 6 or 7 corporations who’s concern is selling advertising time. In some cases it is also to lead the consumer of their news to the conclusions they want.

    Fake news. Funny.

How about Rolling Stone and rape in Virginia.

Harry Reid and Mitt Romney’s taxes.

Fake stories in the New York Times – Jayson Blair, and let’s not forget Mike Barnacle at the Boston Globe.

Or ABC News reporting a man in Colorado as being in the Tea Party and insinuating he shot up a movie theater.

All the media has to do is research. Do decent reporting. It’s what used to be done and they don’t want to take the time now. So sad. So very sad.

The journalists never did anything but bow down when Obama or Hillary walked by and printed or quoted anything they said as gospel. That’s not journalism, it is just propagandising.

The idea that mainstream journalism is a bulwark against disinfo and misinfo is surely a joke

agreed… maybe the main stream media will actually do their job from now on…Letting Hillary skate on her scandals was hideous.
