You could always get an Antennae for Free Over the Air Channels to watch your commercials. Why pay a Cable/Satellite company $$$$ when you can get all the same commercials for Free!!
I use a DVR (Tivo-like) to fast forward though commercials. That is part of my cable package, it also means I can record shows when I am out doing something else and, therefore, I am not tied to the station’s schedule (except for CBS which stupidly assigns 3 hours to a football game (3 and a half lately)
Cut the cord and get a Roku or Amazon stick or Apple tv and you can watch shows and movies without commercials and without paying an arm and a leg for the privilege. My family went to Roku a couple of years ago and we don’t miss cable at all. Even my 9 year old doesn’t care!
Some networks have begun putting movies in a lot bigger time slot to force you to watch a lot more commercials. Classic programs are also getting this treatment. Running a classic 30 minute program in a 35 or 40 minute time slot.
One Friday evening about 1965 I sat down with a stopwatch to time all the commercials in the 3 1/2 hours of prime time on a Friday evening. The total was a bit over 22 minutes. We had about 12 channels. Now, with over 300 to pick from, there are about 12 that I regularly choose from, and a bunch that I don’t want that have to pay for anyway. And when I get used to watching a certain channel, they will drop it or move it to a more costly package. And when I look through the grid to pick something, I might choose a program and see a minute of it and it goes to 5 minutes of commercials. So I keep looking, and each thing I pick is on commercials, and I go back to the first one, watch a minute, and then more commercials. Sometimes the commercial breaks are so long I forget what I was watching. Sometimes I can get up when a commercial starts, let the dogs in, go to the bathroom myself, get a beer and a snack and check email, and when I get back, there is still a minute of commercials left. If it weren’t for my wife, I’d drop the dish and start buying DVD collections of classic programs and movies. I got her a collection of a series she’d really liked which I’d never seen, and she fell asleep the two times we tried to watch the first episode. So I still haven’t seen it.

For several years we had a cable company and a Satellite dish company. Never did both go out at the same time.
Â
My suggestion to them is either go out to a bar and watch tv, or buy a toy and go to bed.

I remember when they shoved cable down our throats. It was sold to us as commercial free because we paid for it monthly LOL. I cut the cord long ago.
