It has been at least speculated that Ford’s principal motivation for pardoning Nixon was that any investigation, let alone trial, would put a spotlight on the imperial Presidency itself. Ford, as the hack who had inherited that institution, would rather not see it questioned.
I have looked at this image, and its repeated showings over the past 50 years and have always wondered.
Trudeau’s use of artistic license is understandable for its imagery, but either the sun sits in the north of the sky or the White House has been rotated 180 degrees.
Not once has anyone ever noticed and chosen to comment.
