I love seeing bottles of WATER labeled GLUTEN FREE! In the old days they would add weird ingredients to things for marketing. Hexaclorophene comes to mind. They even added it to gasoline for no reason other than to say it had hexaclorophene. Now you say things don’t have stuff in them. LOL!
OK, for people that don’t know. There are people that have severe allergic reactions to gluten, celiac disease. Especially, but not exclusively wheat. The reason for certifying a product ‘gluten free’ even when it seems obvious, is that people with celiac disease can react severely to even trace amounts of wheat. Thus, products made in facilities that also make wheat products can be contaminated with wheat gluten, even if by nature they are gluten free. To be certified gluten free the product must ensure not even trace amounts of wheat are allowed in the production of such product.
As for people that do gluten free, that don’t need to, they generally go back to regular diets, or cheat, because a lot of gluten free products are on the bland side. Not to mention more expensive. The good thing about the gluten free fad is it has brought more variety of products to grocery store shelves that didn’t exist before for those that really need to be gluten free.

But the ones obsessed with gluten are dumber and easier to catch.

One of my favorites was the peanut butter brand whose ad boasted “Only half the added sugar!”
magicwalnut about 8 years ago
Nowadays, they’d say “two times less added sugar”, whatever that means.
Night-Gaunt49[Bozo is Boffo] about 8 years ago
How about “no added sugar”?

Gluten is in wheat, barley, and rye. People are not grains.
