I must say again, the change of setting in this story is wonderful so far.

Now, has that old goat ever been a sea captain? Because he has the look down perfectly.

The technology is inconsistent in Endtown. The phone styles are decades apart, and other items show a wide difference of periods. Probably a combination of scavenging equipment after the End, and different eras of technology during Endtown’s construction.
