When did the GOP become a party of wusses? I’m more likely being killed driving to/from work than I am by a terrorist.

“Federal Appellate Judge William Canby Jr. asked August Flentje, the Justice Department lawyer defending the executive order, which was prepared with no advice from legal or veteran national security officials, How many federal offenses have we had being committed by people that came in with visas from these countries?

Mr. Flentje declined to answer, saying that the litigation was ‘moving very fast.’ He then suggested that ‘a number of people from Somalia may have been’ convicted of terrorist crimes in the United States, but said that the government had not included any of these cases in the record."

Textbook example of a non-issue being used as a political football. Anyone who really believes America can lock out the refugees and remain America is just kidding themselves. More like an excuse for bigotry’s last stand.

I had a Moroccan Muslim student who married an American in his home country. He had to wait nearly ten years for a visa to come here, then, when applying for citizenship had to ‘prove’ that he slept with his wife every night. I was one of the people who had to write a letter saying I had observed him at social events with his wife. When will folks stop hollering that “My god can lick your god with one hand tied behind his back”?

The 9-11 attackers and Osama Bin Laden were Saudis. Why wasn’t Saudi Arabia included in the ban?

That is why we don’t allow unvetted immigration. You would know this if you, oh, never mind. Carry on making America “great” “again”

I’m afraid some people will not give up their “alternative facts” (an oxymoron. There are only facts.)

That is why the US vetting process is so lengthy and arduous. The ban just caused friction with Muslims that want to fight terrorism.

Yes, the word unprepared is just right. I’m sure you heard one Judge ask plainly that ‘Why shouldn’t we look to the Executive Branch to remedy this order’s deficiencies?‘

If the Federal government wants to send a tough Constitutionally sound geo-political message (as they have in the past) about America’s vigilance, the courts would certainly approve it.

btw- Congress has launched a political attack specifically aimed at the 9th Circuit Court. Legislation is pending to ‘break it up’ (strictly in the interest of good, efficient governance). That is pure fascism any way you look at it.

Andrew Puzder, Trump’s nominee for Labor Secretary hired an illegal to clean his house.

He now claims ‘he didn’t know’ she was illegal.

    .

No reports of where this housekeeper was from and whether a big, big wall would have kept her out.

    .

Meanwhile, Puzder’s companies employ thousands of fast food workers. How many of them are illegal? No one knows.

Especially not Puzder — he couldn’t even tell when one was inside his house! ‘Cause, you know, HE DIDN’T KNOW!

But these are the guys who are going to keep us safe from illegal immigration.

And the so-called ‘conservatives’ believe it all.

    @Jack

…many of its cases turned over often unanimously…

If I’m reading you right, dissenting judicial opinions are somehow unacceptable? To whom? The very foundations of our freedom rests on vigorous judicial, political, and intellectual dissent. When one branch of our three tiered government unlawfully attacks or subverts another branch it is tantamount to treason. That is neither Conservative or Progressive dogma- it is American Constitutional law.

It’s one thing to draw a picture, but another to make it reflect reality. Are you seriously trying to say that people vetted for two years are not vetted.? Are you seriously saying that people who have lived here for 25 years contributing to our society are not vetted? Are you seriously saying that? The I challenge you to show YOUR greencard/immigration papers. I’ll show you mine, if you’ll show us yours?

Unvetted immigration where? Not here in America. Trump didn’t include any countries that actually sent us terrorists in his ban – he could have just said, “Obama’s vetting program is plenty to keep us safe.”
