    Here in northern Nevada we put out food for them, then sit back and watch them roll through the front yard. Occasionally one’ll get caught in the fence and I have to free it. I have started naming the larger ones. They seem friendly, but I’m not sure…

    Tumbleweeds are a Russian plot – the seeds were imported with wheat seeds from Russia. So they are a fairly recent arrival in America. It’s not likely that most of the “old west” had them until close to the 20th century.
