The problem with solar and wind (in addition to the failure rate and high maintenance costs) is the battery storage problem. Somebody above did say that Tesla is selling Ni-Ion batteries for this purpose, I checked it out a while back and believe me, they are not for the average person, only for the wealthy who want to feel good about how much they are doing for the environment.
