HS kids do preform well at spelling and geography bees, but are not well socialized with their peers. With the advent of computers and the internet, I can foresee Home Schooling as the future of Public Schools, seeing as how public schools are doing such a crappy job of teaching the future of the country. Given that about 50% of kids entering college have to take remedial classes in both math and english before they are allowed to take college level classes

There is a lot of left-wing propaganda against home schooling. For a supposedly smart girl, Gracie is pretty narrow minded.

I don’t think this is meant as a criticism of homeschooling. The boy is schooled at home, without classmates, and is therefore the only one in his class.

I’m pretty sure the point of it was that he was the only one in his class, not a statement for or against home education. It’s a cute kid joke/observation.
