Called (perhaps relevantly) catoptromancy was the ancient Greek “science” of divining the future by the character of one’s reflection in a bowl or pool of water (before the invention of glass mirrors). A distorted reflection meant a distorted future. A damaged mirror, as an extension of the theory, meant a damaged future = bad luck.
But more to the point, if you break a one-way mirror, does it mean bad luck for the person watching you?

Satchel has that look that says “To heck with the bad luck, I’m going to smash that mirror over Bucky’s head!”

Intriguing alternatives, Bucky. Philosophers will no doubt debate them.

I broke a mirror once. My lawyer got it down to 4 years.
