It is a consistent historical constant: Self-appointed “supreme crusaders” dedicated to saving “mindless masses” from themselves. In the 1950s, I still remember the anti-pornography “crusade” and, of course political movements like anti-communism, anti fascism, all-Americanism, etc. Yes, there are idiots who get involved in drugs, pornography, destructive political movements, etc., but they are not the “masses.” A lot of them are actually “power-tripping,” claiming to be the “crusaders.”
