Woke up without hitting snooze!
Actually ate breakfast!
Made the bed for once!
Found a pair of clean and matching socks!
Did you see that another one of your high school friends had a baby?
Silence.
don’t feel so limited to gender-normative standards. any moron can breed. there are so many more substantive and meaningful measures with which to feel inadequate about.
Ms Andersen’s balloon dialog is ambiguous, so let’s all hope that, by “high school friends,” she means people whom her character knew years ago in high school and are now having babies as opposed to a current high-school student who is also a friend and who has recently given birth. I suspect the former.
I’m in my 50s. I have made a conscious choice not to have kids. I am male, but that changes nothing. Plenty of women out there don’t want kids, either. There’s nothing wrong in that.
Whenever I see an announcement that someone I went to high school with got married or had a baby, it’s all I can do not to smash my devices. WE GRADUATED IN 2020! FOUR YEARS AGO! SLOW DOWN! LET ME CATCH UP! I don’t WANT to get married or start a family until my thirties, but I’ve never even had a boyfriend yet.

That high school friend isn’t married and doesn’t know what she is going to do as a mother.

Choosing to NOT have kids in this day and age is a pretty adult move, too.
