Your wasting your time trying to talk about global issues to the majority of Americans that can’t see past their own back yards Gweedo. A lot of it really isn’t their fault, most American news organizations coverage stops at the border. I know this from personal experience, watching the Buffalo news, you’d swear there was nothing but a void west of the Niagara River.
Actually GEE1A, taxes can be collected in Afghanistan–as was actually done by oppressor regimes such as Taliban (and Taliban currently does in FATA and Swat).
Wrong Gweedo–the tax collectors in such cases also function as the local loansharks.
(unfortunately, US did buy heroin ex-lab in Pakistan–ostensibly to help Afghan anti-Soviet resistance–in 1980’s and had it transported stateside in USAF transports from Peshawar).
Hugh, you’ve got a good point. I grew up in Detroit and all the best radio stations started with “C”. Just watch the Weather channel, any time they show a map. The bgig grey spot between the US and Alaska? That’s called ‘Canada’ boys and girls. Can you say ‘Canada’? I went to an education conference not long ago. The Canadians had a booth there, to try and convinve American teachers to include events involving Canada as part of American history. Something beyond the French & Indian War, perhaps. Or Benedict Arnold trying to invade.
Dragon-etc, the Chinook helicopter class ahead of mine was sent to Afghanistan - in 1966! We’ve been doing the pooch there for a long-long-time. George Orwell’s dad was in charge of boosting opium production there when he worked for the British foreign office. History is but a broken record- click-click-click.

Other than the knapsacks full of cash, the Stinger missiles, the top secret electronic timers, and the training in detonating car bombs .. not too much.
Dypak, It’s interesting that you say that. I was educated in Canada. We learned all about the US. We also learned about other countries besides our own. I ‘ll bet the average Canadian knows more bout the US than the average American.

We could spend less money fighting drugs if we just buy the crops in the field.

Almost on the nail wndrwrthg.
It would work if they legalised the drugs first.
