Around here, we just put it out at the curb. Someone will pick it up for repair. My wife put out an old chest of drawers and it was picked up before she could get back in the house.
It IS a big job getting rid of an old couch, but people who randomly abandon them anywhere they feel, just burns me up. Where I worked, they would toss all sorts of crap in back by the loading docks and expect the store to take care of it, which they had to do to let the trucks get in! BAD! I applaud those of you who did it the ‘right’ way!

I know people that do this. No big deal.

It’s harder than it looks, there’s a lot more metal in there than you might think
We were moving and rented a dumpster for all the stuff we were throwing away
Couch didn’t fit, so I made it fit

Everything comes apart and the garbage truck is coming back every week. Sometimes you just have to store the pieces for a while.

I have done this. It took several weeks. The pieces just set by the garage until they all left. It worked just fine.

Well geez, Jerry, if you’re that cheap, why didn’t you recover the frame for firewood? And you’d get a great opera plot out of it, besides!

Good to be thrifty.

Better than what our neighbor did with his: he burned it (and other old furniture he didn’t want) in the back yard.

Guess I’m not the only one who does this. LOL! He even got my name right.

I’ve done this, too ! (after leaving it out on curb next to dumpster & asking all the neighbors if they wanted an outdoor firepit couch !)
