What’s wrong with him being a capitalist? Everyone would still be living in tents if not for far seeing capitalists who saw a glass as half full.I’m glad someone lent Bill Gates that $5000 to start. Matter of fact, where did this computer come from? Some dirty capitalist? No, a man with a dream.
The optimist sees a glass that’s half full; the pessimist sees a glass that’s half empty; the civil engineer sees a glass that’s twice as big as it needs to be…
Lewreader, human psychology is such that we’re much more emotionally involved with what we don’t have vs. what we do (probably something left over from our early primate days). That’s why class warfare works… it touches an old irrational nerve where we become fixated on other people’s banana’s rather than our own.
Besides, given the choice, we’d rather be lazy. It’s just plain easier to complain about somebody like Gates and take what he has than it is to make something ourselves.

antburman, I did like Garry’s comments about the ACORN mess.
Oh, wait. Garry’s not commenting on the ACORN mess.
Well, if they’re going to do re-runs, it seems silly at this point to pick ones that zing McCain. McCain who?

According to my local paper - Garry’s on vacation (dare I say again?)

Mechanical Engineers build bombs. Electrical Engineers build guidance systems. Civil Engineers build targets.

Capitalism builds the cars. Socialism builds the roads used by the cars.
Capitalism builds the houses. Socialism builds the sewage systems (or requires the septic tanks) used by the houses.
Capitalism creates the trash consumers throw out. Socialism picks up the trash consumers would otherwise throw out into the nearest ditch.
And so on …
