Lynn’s notes:

I recently found a birthday card I’d made for my mother. She’d saved it in a photo album, something I hadn’t opened for years. I had forgotten about the card. It said, “When you’re very mad at me, you’re awful for a mother, But even if I had a choice, I wouldn’t want another.” I think I was 8 when I made the card. She and I didn’t get along well and I wondered why she’d kept it. I think I was trying to rewrite history here. The strip often had a sweetness to it that wasn’t part of my own childhood experience.

Somehow I knew Lynn would come through on Father’s Day..and she did..wonderfully! Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s!

It is a very nice Father’s Day strip, even if the Canadians don’t celebrate it.

Well I may have a hate on for John but this is a sweet strip. I want to tell him to appreciate Lizzy’s mother more since you appreciate her.

I rather fight with you than love anyone else!

Sniffle!* How sweet is that? Happy Father’s Day to all fathers out there. And this goes for bio-dads, step-dads, foster dads, adoptive dads, dad figures, and godfathers!

Some of us got to choose our parents before we came to Earth.

This may be a real life reflection. Of Lynn Johnston’s two children, her husband at the time was the father of her daughter.
