I’ve heard the phrase “hair of the dog”, but this is a bridge too far!

That contraption looks more like a home ice cream maker than a mini brewery!

It looks like it would be good for fermenting a small amount of corn mash, but that would really not count as home brew. A 5-gallon bottle would be better for fermenting concentrated apple cider or concentrated grape juice with yeast and lots of sugar added.

The bucket looks a bit short, but this is a cartoon. He’s talking about homemade beer. 0. Ignore any Prohibition-era advice or instructions you encounter. 0.5. Follow proper procedure regarding sanitation, oxygen exposure, temperature, food-grade materials, etc. at all times 1. Adding ingredients at proper times according to recipe, boil about 5 gallons for one hour, cool to room temp promptly. 2. Pour into 6 gallon or larger bucket, top up to 5 gallons, stir, get hydrometer reading, add yeast. 3. After 7 to 10 days, siphon to 5 gallon carboy, leaving most sediment behind. 4. After about 14 more days, get a hydrometer reading, and again a couple days later. If the specific gravity is still dropping, wait a couple days and get another reading. When the latest two readings agree, it’s done. 5. Siphon off sediment to a sanitized container (carboy, bucket, brewpot), stir in 3/4 cup sugar, bottle, leave 10 days at room temp for carbonation, then, cool dark storage. See beginner’s section at American Homebrewers Association website for more details.
