Television has been “available” since the late 1920s, (it originated in Britain) but it was the old bugaboo of “There’s not enough TVs to justify programming and not enough programming to justify TVs!” As well as what almost destroyed “video recording” – too many different “standards!” Television did not gain a foothold in America UNTIL some enterprising soul noticed that Americans (men) with money had TWO obsessions, going to bars and watching wrestling matches and realized that combining both would make someone a fortune. So, yes, televising the “sport” of wrestling and the selling of Televisions to bars together was what “made” TV in America successful! And this also was the reason ‘broadcast’ TV has always been “free” in America, unlike TV in Britain (but is also why the advent of ‘commercials’ was inevitable – yet another example of how no good deed goes unpunished!) This is an utterly simplistic history lesson and you really should check into it yourself, it’s fascinating and you will find out WHY new innovations in viewing (or listening) will probably NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!

I worked with a printer that moved photo sensitive paper past a single line 2D screen. Stack the sheets and make a flip book.

I had a CRT that did that, became a bright colored line. Got to watch it shrink to a line as part of the Cathode Ray Tube failed.

I’m waiting for the Zero-D televisions. They will make all of the current programming infinitely better.

I thought it said an ID (eye-dee) TV, so I figured it was one the NSA could spy on you with.

My old TV did that 1D thingy awhile, except it wasn’t supposed to.
