That overflowing waste basket is a little out of the ordinary, now that I think about it. Whenever I have had to sit down with the folks in banks who have their own office, I notice that they either have a shredder right there next to the desk, or a secured container for papers to be shredded later. How many papers that have no sensitive information can one bank manager go through in a day, anyway?
So… im guessing Hickman is closing the blinds, yes? Since they were open yesterday and the day before… maybe he will kill himself instead of being found out and doesn’t want ‘witnesses’
Was there every a bank robbery in history where the robbers got away with $250,000? If Hickman was really embezzling from the bank’s clients, which seems to be what is really going on, why doesn’t he gather up his ill-gotten loot & high-tail it to the nearest country with a non-extradition treaty with the US?
Gee, Frank, it looks like the embezzlement game is not so easily played as you had hoped. Something (or someone) has got to give.
Maybe the accountant must “go” (that’s a euphemism, folks). Maybe Blackjack must be facilitated by Hickman in the successful completion of a robbery. Maybe Hickman wants to take the Gentleman’s Way Out (suicide), though that is unlikely. Maybe Frankie-boy figures he has to find a way to thwart Tracy and his investigation.
Whatever the case, Mr. Frank Hickman, Manager of the Fleischer Savings & Loan Bank, has a problem. A big problem.
And I suspect that neither Blackjack nor Tracy will sympathize with his problem. Indeed, I begin to foresee yet another scenario of Tracy and His Biggest Fan cooperating once more to bring down the real villain, Hickman, with Blackjack skating yet again….

Good morning, VB. I stayed up to see if the story got more interesting. I got my answer.

All seriousness aside, might he have to fake the robbery, should Blackjack prove uncooperative?

The plans I make
The rules I break
The dice I shake
The accounts I fake
The cash I rake
The risk I take
Might become my wake
Because of a meddling cop!

Perhaps our old fiend Bribery could be asked to help another fiend in need? He was coming back in town after all, according to Lee…

It makes one wonder so…. Which is the greater crime… To rob a bank. Or to own one?

When people start thinking the way Hickman is, there can be little doubt that a homicide is being planned. The auditor is in for it.

Hickman will attempt some action by the bank to entice Blackjack to rob him.

Perhaps Hickman will cosplay as Blackjack and rob his own bank.
