I canât blame anyone for wanting a new phone. Theyâre so sleek and shiny and compact and stylish and none of that has anything to do with functionality but oh well!
Frankly, there was no functional reason to upgrade from my Samsung Note 5, and my sister in law still has my old Note 2! I want the latest phone (Samsung, that is) and I get it. It doesnât make sense financially or pragmatically⊠but there it isâŠ
Speaking as a dinosaur, there are times Iâve been in restaurants where no one spoke to anyone the same table because they were so busy with their âdevicesâ. And I can no longer count the number of green lights Iâve been forced to sit through because the kids in front of me were so busy texting they had no time to notice the light had changed. And this is called ârobust communication and healthy sharingâ?
You know, Luann, you DO have a part-time job, and cell phones and cell phone plans arenât that expensive anymore. Just get your own upgrade and pay for it yourself.
I think sharing and communicating would be far better if kids werenât allowed smart phones until they were 18. Let them develop their minds first before turning them into mush with all the confusing ca-ca on the internet these days.
You may commence with the negative responses nowâŠThey are expected.
Come on, this would be a normal strip if luann was in high school, but sheâs a college student, with a job. Go buy your own phone! Oh my gosh, I sound like my mother!
About 6 months ago, I purchased the most fun and interesting phone I have ever owned. It is a Xiaomi Mi Max (later version) â 4850 mah battery, dual SIM, 4gb ram, 128gb internal storage, 256gb micro SD, octacore processor, 6.44" screen, running global MIUI 8/Android7. Virtually no bloatware. It has proved to be reliable and stable. The phone only has one drawback, but it does not affect anything I do with it. It is not for everybody, but I am sure enjoying the heck out of it. I like the large display better than the ones on my Samsung and LG, particularly when you are looking at documents, spreadsheets, and schematics. No slouch on gaming, eitherâŠ
These statements are usually designed by âprofessional watchdog groupsâ to either:
A) âsound more important than they really areâ
B) âsound more âresearchedâ than they really areâ
C) âsound more planned out than they really areâ
D) âsound more intelligent than they really areâ
E) âbe more convincing than they really soundâ
-
Sort of like how those TV shows for kids try to âlist the benefits of watching, for their developmentââŠ
-
-or those ads (using fake doctors or using fake government or university study/research credentials)for some pills to âmake you lose weightâ or âgive you some sort of impressive functionâ or to âregrowâ hairâŠ
-
-or those lawyers (a. k. a. âprofessional sue-ersâ) that try to get people to file complaints for the âpain and suffering of sports teams losingâ or âfor the bitter taste experienced by one of those kinds of pills, mentioned aboveââŠ..
Okay, I know itâs different for everybody, but on my computer, floating above the comic, is an ad for the Samsung Galaxy. These ad-bots are getting a little too smart these days.
(Psst, Luann? Leave Your Father Alone! The Poor Guy will have enough problems when He loses His Business after the Joint is RAIDED by the Cops! But I bring Glad Tidings! I heard this Guy Les Knox is about to come into a WHOLE LOT of Money Soon! And Iâll BET He wouldnât Mind give You the Money for a New Phone! Oh, Re-Lax! Iâm SURE the Wonât be any âStrings Attached!â)
Buzzzz! Wrong answer Frank. The proper response was to tell her âsure, if you pay for it!â For godâs sake, teach the girl some responsibility. I got a job and paid for everything when I went to college. Including my car.

Something in the news last week: Growth in use of social networking among teens parallels increase in teen depression. Researcher point out that âcorrelation does not imply causationâ, but this may be an area for research.
save up your $ Luann and buy it yourselfâŠ..Iâve noticed (over the months) that Nancy and Frank do less coddling and advising now that Luann is 18 and in college. Theyâve been good parents when Brad and Luann were younger and this too is good

Get her a Motorola Brick phone. It is considered an expensive, collectible phone nowadays. Good luck finding an analog signal, tho.
.
It will be surprising how fast homework, chores around the house, and other things get done when the teens have one of thoseâŠ#

You can âmoveâ the apps to the card. On average it reduces the app storage on the phone by maybe 30%, but itâs better than nothing.
But I love that a 128 Gb SD card is $40 and the 128 GB iPhone is an extra $200+.
