In Frank King’s original Gasoline Alley, it was Skeezix who collected postmarks (during the Depression) rather than Walt. To be fair, I suppose Walt could have done it, too, but the strip made a point of Skeezix doing the collecting as an inexpensive but fun collection to have. I wonder why Skeezix wasn’t the central figure for today’s strip instead of Walt?
We still compose words in a ,more or less, coherent way to communicate with the world but have invented a new way of condensing and sharing the composition.
