Republicans need to just abolish Obamacare. AND in the same legislation, they need to include repeal of the Reagan signed legislation that requires ERs to treat people who cannot pay.
Whenever Those People are seen in an emergency room, it raises the cost for everyone who can afford to pay.
Therefore, it must be eliminated. Acting as if health care is some kind of right is the same as, you know, slavery.
Actually Obamacare did work-somewhat. the lower classes and the elderly had lower premiums. But it was actually rather mild- the predominant thought was that insurers work in a free market, but recent reports say they don’t. because of this mis-assumption, many parts were too mild
Well Kelly, it wasn’t Democrats who lied about Obamacare it was big PHARMA who lied and continues to lie in order to preserve their Republican Plutocrat status. So, why are you lying?
Government shouldn’t be trying to provide insurance for everyone. They should concentrate on getting healthcare costs down so everyone can afford healthcare.
The first step would be to remove all (or at least most) the the regulations that increase costs and protect big providers.
The comments here are specious. Single payer is the only way to get all people covered but only solves one problem. The REAL problems are the costs and our aging population. There have to be limits on hospitals, drug producers, etc. We are seeing a plethora of new hospitals, clinics, etc which are setup by profit seeking entities. Those costs are being passed on to US. Reminds me of the old days where you had 3 gas stations at every major intersection.
the whole “keep your doctor” is BS anyway. I’ve had doctors that have left health plans or when I’ve changed employers and then new health plan turned into new doctor. So, it isn’t like it was guaranteed under the previous system that a person could keep their doctor. it was a stupid request, a stupid promise, and a stupid critique.
I know I’m repeating what Ronzero said, but I think it’s worth repeating. Yes, single payer would be a good idea. But that’s only part of what’s needed. In addition, you need to control the costs of health care. Health care in the US is much more expensive than health care in France, or Germany, or Canada. Why? Because big corporations run the system for profit. Is the US unable to do what every other developed nation in the world can do? Does American exceptionalism mean that Americans are too dumb to solve this problem?

Steve is right about one thing. Single payer is the solution. The problem is that there is no profit in it.

The republicans don’t even want to talk to the dems about the health care plan they are trying to destroy.

And, when and if you have something catastrophic happen to your health, and the GOP pill passes you’ll be up the creek without a paddle.

Republicans have a lot to do with the ACA. Now that they can actually do something constructive, they are at a total loss as to how to proceed.
Their task masters are giving orders, but they know if they follow those orders they will have major problems.
