Wiktionary offers the following usage notes on the plural of virus, which is often believed to be viri or even virii: neither is correct Latin and both are neologistic folk etymology. The word virus has no plural in Latin as it is a mass noun, like oxygen or sunlight. Wikipedia’s large section dedicated to the question has this verdict: “The English plural of virus is viruses, not viri/virii.” Merriam-Webster agrees, as does TheFreeDictionary. What, you expected pithy universal contemplation? I’m still on anti-poison-ivy drugs. LOL
I was fortunate enough to take a course with Steven Squyres, who later headed up the Mars Rover program, and I remember him saying he suspected there was life on Mars — and that humans were responsible for it being there, because even the best sterilization procedures aren’t 100% effective. So the Viking lander back in the 1970’s almost certainly had some passengers, as did subsequent probes.
Complex organic molecules capable of containing the code for life may be abundant in our galaxy. It is very possible that we owe our existence to Earth having been seeded. This is probably a continuous process.

A repeat from 2011. The news was that simple components of DNA were found, not anything like DNA or RNA.
