Geez, Frazz, they have to get up early to go to school during the rest of the year. Let them have some relax time during summer, you know, being kids.

It’s not my thing either. Night time is the right time any time of year.

I used to love getting up at the crack of noon, but then my job switched to 0530 to 1330 with 24hr on call. After 25 yrs of that, sleeping in is 6AM

Gotta think Frazz is missing the point here. I’m a daylight person myself, and in mid-winter I’m up before dawn because I don’t want to miss the few hours of light that we’ll have. Mid-summer, the light will stick around till well after 9pm so I can sleep in a bit.

I’m a fan of the swing shift and now that I’m not working I’ve, naturally, moved toward staying up late and sleeping in late… but I also did my fair share of mids and slept during the day. When most of you were just waking up I was heading home to get some sleep.

I have noticed that since most folks work straight days all their life they have no understanding of what it’s like to be a shift worker and assume everyone must be awake during the hours they keep. They would never go to meeting at 2am, but insisted that I do the equivalent during my night just because the sun was up.
