NPR had an interview recently with Giles Martin, son of George, the Beatles’ producer. He said that the mono mix of Sgt. Pepper was superior to the stereo mix due to the technological limitations of the time. The recent re-release is supposed to be a stereo version of the mono mix.

Dang, this is making me feel old. I had a transistor radio, and just like in the Allan Sherman song – it came in a leatherette case with holes in it, so you could listen right through the case.

I have fond memories of the transistor radios of my childhood.

Unfortunately, with my hearing loss, everything sounds like it’s coming out of a 60’s car, or transistor radio.

Take all of today’s audit technology, chop it down to MP3 and play it on 1 mm earphone transducers. Good stuff, if you are mostly deaf.

I have to admit that vinyl records do sound awesome. My best friend has a working turntable and plays records every so often. I love it. He had on Ritchie Valenz the one day and it never sounded better!

Maybe Bud should make Junior listen to some of the music with him. He might gain an appreciation for it. I’m grateful that my parents listened to the music they liked when I was around because it helped me gain an appreciation for all sorts of music.

This kid is so wrapped up in today’s technology, he’ll probably grow up and think he doesn’t have to do anything while working; which sounds a lot like this guy barely in his 20’s at my husband’s work. He brings his laptop to work and plays games during his shift and doesn’t do his job right and my husband has to constantly tell him what he does wrong. He has been told to leave his laptop at home. A recent incident regarding a delivery may get him fired.

Ah, the good old days when the quality of the music itself was more important than how it was made.

Some of the best movies ever made were in black and white, too!
