Good Morning, Vista Bill and others. Although it’s not a good morning to start with. I’m still getting over the passings of both Dick Locher and country-western singer Glenn Campbell. I know I’m going to get some ire from a few atheists, but as the old folks say here in the south, “they’re now at home with the Lord”. Here on Earth, they will be sadly missed. As for Dick Locher, there will no more jokes with me about how he did the story-lines comparing to how Joe & Mike does them now. That will cease now. RIP Dick & Glenn, RIP.
I think the Cleopatra poster (? or plaque, seemingly referring to the mostly-lost 1917 version with Theda Bara as the vamp) just reinforces the public domain theme in Public Domain’s home. Auntie Bea has let her enthusiasm get her down the rabbit hole even faster than Alice! Now, Public’s “lead” is to appear in the person of Silver, whatever his assumed personality. Meanwhile, Bea needs to clean up that spilled martini (see yesterday’s strip and my final Reply to my Comment)!
It is good to have seen the Mike Peters and Scott Stantis tributes to Dick Locher, too….

De Martinville’s machine didn’t actually record sound. It drew the sound wave patterns on the cylinder.

And with modern technology it can be played back. He never intended to have play back capacity. Not his interest.

Maybe Public Domain’s next scam will be a piece of 1st century pottery that has “Cleopatra’s Voice” recorded on it.
