I was going to make a joke about clubs and going out clubbing, but then I realized that old trope was really about beating women unconscious so they could be raped, and that ruined it for me.
And so we get a Fred Flintstone version of prehistoric Neanderthals who were quite smart. Imagine Fred with acromegly and you would be close on the humor scale today. That and poor English skills.
