While I have known for a long time that Broomie’s observation is unquestionably true, I never use it to deride half the human species.
But I have used it countless times to save my life while driving. Watching for some random person to do something stupid on the highway is just part of defensive driving.
(Besides, it’s not how smart you are or aren’t; it’s how well you use what you have. Carter and Nixon were two of our smartest presidents and look what good it did them.)

Me, I figure I’m NOT a very good driver, so I’m always extra careful. Which is more than I can say for most people. Which means I’m a better-than-average driver…
