I question that “does his homework” qualification, since he apparently was well into the scam before he even read up on what a phonoautograph produces! (A smoked paper record, not a wax cylinder)
I expected as much. The problem for him is making sure they cannot link anything to him or they will simply tell them who got them out. It is his word against two escaped convict con artists.
Not a surprise from Public Domain (see, e.g., my comment from 3 days ago). I do wonder who his henchman is (who looks a bit like a cross between B.B. Eyes and Oliver Warbucks…). Clearly, Silver and Sprocket need to be more sober-minded about their position in this scam. It is a precarious, vulnerable position. Silver tends to be too manic and gullible, for all his skill as a con man. But Sprocket has the potential to be more cool-headed and lethal.
This could become a showdown amongst the Bad Guys without Tracy intervening except to mop up after all the damage has been done!

Looks like Silver Nitrate had better watch his back or else Public Domain’s likely to stick a knife in it……

Henchman #1 is so overcome with glee he popped his top button clear off his shirt! LOL

Of course… unless the Nitrates’ “homework” includes research on Mr. Domain. (I imagine they’ve got a new hyena.)

Expendable. That was my thought from the start.

Facial shadowing is a bit distracting today. Otherwise, superb artwork. Staton is such a good visual storyteller.

Classic “profile” shots, Joe did a great job on today’s installment. I guess the shadows are kind of a “noir” effect…

That’s a generic cigar brand, I assume?

Mr. Domains’ “side-kick” kinda looks like Peter Lorre…
