I got to see that once back in 1962 or so. The only time I saw the Arm of Orion. No wonder our ancestors were so captivated by the star field. Nowadays not so much.

went camping up in the border waters between Canada and U.S., the nights were a wonder with no light polluting the sky.

If you visit Branson or cruise Route 66, drop me a line. We can share a lemonade (or a brew) in me star-watching seats

Growing up on a farm in Illinois, I had a much pretty good view of the nighttime sky. However, the best view I’ve had in recent years was at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

A rat will just chew through your house’s wiring. Give a raccoon the master switch though…

Driving through the Minot AFB missile fields in North Dakota, had absolutely spectacular night skies, especially in winter when the temp was double-digit below zero.

The last time I saw that sight was in 1982 40 miles south of Green River, Utah.

Got to see the Milky Way once. It was in 1968 at Lake Lomond in Scotland. Will never forget the sight.

Way back in the winter of 1984, I went to visit my parents in rural Tennessee. I had been living in Boston for many years. At night I went out into back yard, and was mesmerized for so long my Mom came-out to see what had happened to me. I was just staring UP because I hadn’t seen that many stars in years. More recently I have been out in the Desert in Arizona at night. Awesome sight.Light Pollution has ruined the night sky.

Glad to see RJ was concerned with safety, wearing his linesman’s gloves.
