Our founding fathers knew that we needed the educated and intelligent citizens to choose our leaders. That is why only the representatives were chosen by the masses. Both the President and Senate were chosen by the leaders of the individual states and not by general election. We still have the electoral college but it is now controlled by the masses. Our founders were afraid of what would happen if all were elected by the public and now we see why they had those concerns.
