Is that Sky Chief? I can never keep them straight. I should probably assemble some sort of spreadsheet.

    Nah.

And Archibald does not seem to have a clue on how to respond! Roll up that newspaper and give that puppy a whack!

Another Mme. Deux Couleur original posted at hip height, as is the style in Ballard.

I like the color scheme of this room! Orange walls, pink carpet, with yellow/blue borders.

Sky Chief says, “That’s for that time at the vet! You thought I had forgotten, but noooo.”

To All My Friends in Texas

Speaking as an old hurricane survivor – Charley in Florida was my last bad one – my thoughts and prayers go out to you all. I hope you can manage to stay high and dry or at least stay safe throughout this windy, watery mess. I really do know what you are experiencing.

I’m sure that’s there’s many of our Texas Ballardeers out there who, because of power failures and evacuations, are unable to see this post, but for those who can, please relay to the others, that we’re all with you and concerned for you and yours. God bless and take care !

This is only my second hurricane, but it’ll probably turn out to be Houston’s worst ever. But I still have electricity and no flooding (yet). That’s more than I can say than so many others.

I have a friend who has water on the first floor, she knows all is lost. They are camped out on the second floor of their house, amazingly she still has wifi, we’ve all been getting updated on conditions.

My goddaughter is far enough inland that she is escaping all but a little of the rain.

She and a number of friends are collecting things like toiletries, sox and underwear, diapers and formula, things like that to take into the worst hit places.

My family’s beach home was flooded by Katrina. It was mostly used by my East Coast siblings, and they handled the rebuild. Amazing how long it takes to recover. We did have flood insurance, but most did not. All of your walls and floors will be lost to mold, because you cannot get a contractor in for weeks. Then two years of demolition and reconstruction. As you walk around the neighborhood, you see many, many derelict buildings, even today. No federal aid for the uninsured for political reasons.
