Catholics are dull. It takes a good 15 minutes to get through the Peace at our church. The reverend has to set off an air horn to get back control of the service.
The thing I dislike most about the Peace is the awkwardness of not knowing which people having touch issues. There’s always this hesitation of “Do I shake your hand or just give you a sign?”

When my Mom wasn’t feeling well, she would bring a clean glove, and put it on when the Peace started.

I’m encountering less and less hand-shaking and more peace sign waving.
