They come off a bit as spoiled children…as my mum used to say there are plenty of children who don’t get enough food of any kind, sadly. I didn’t understand that as a child (I hated beets) but as an adult I totally get why she would not allow us to complain about food.

When I was a kid if we had a bunch of leftovers in the fridge my mother would combine them in some way and call it “glop”….
