I’ll always remember the donut, just a plain sugar unwrapped donut. They had their 2 year old hand them out. He put it on the bag as it was not open it stayed on the top edges. I opened the bag and it fell in. He looked inside to see where it went, LOL!
One year I got money. There was some drunk guy when we went to his house, he opened the door and told us he had no candy and he went into his living room and brought back a glass jar filled with change. He told everyone to open their bags and he poured some of the change into your bag. As drunk as he was we knew he would never remember us. I hit his house twice more before we finished for the night. I got around 5 or 6 dollars in change. It is not that much now but back in 1958 that was a fortune.

It could’ve been worse. Could’ve been broccoli or quinoa.
