Well, when doing tech support you should always expect the DAU (dumbest assumable user).

But only for windows boxes… real operating systems don’t need that sort of thing for routine issues, just new kernals.

Two basic rules of troubleshooting that will fix (probably) 90% of problems:

1. Is it plugged in?

2. Is it turned on?

note: these questions are literal to start with but can be applied virtually to many other situations, depending on what’s happening. And you can almost always safely assume PEBKAC (see @rags comment).

I’d think Rita could use a little turning on.
