I know of a guy who tried to keep a diary, then gave up on it after one entry because “diary” sounds like something a little girl would write in. So he started writing a journal instead. He made one entry, then three addendum to that entry that he insisted were not real entries, and finally gave up on the journal and wrote a memoir instead.
