Hoping that the meeting between Joe Biden and Meghan McCain got some traction here. ABC viewers got a lot of replay out of it on Good Morning America as well as ABC World News at night. // Take away for me was: Joe Biden and John McCain are really great friends – even if their political views couldn’t be more different. And while Joe is not committing to running for president in 2020, Meghan said of him, that he should run because he’s “a Democrat that Republicans could like.” // I rather suspect that Doug Jones accomplished a bit of that, as well. // What I’m getting at is, we DON’T agree on everything, nor SHOULD we. But whatever happened to the idea that we can still be friends? // When did it come to pass that, if you don’t agree with me, then you are now public enemy number one? That you don’t deserve your daily allotment of oxygen?
This toon is deeply flawed. There are two issues in error. First “trump’s” America consists of mentally ill trump and the deplorables (great name for a band!!). What passes for debate among these people are lies, slime, ignorance, and stupidity.
The second error is that being unwilling to “debate” is a national problem. That’s 100% accurate, but entirely due to one side of the aisle. Unfortunately, it’s the republicans who have turned into treasonous enablers of a mentally ill amoral “president,” who are refusing to debate. The amoral, visionless Republican Party is replacing debate with a one-sided power grab reminiscent of authoritarian dictatorships like those in Venezuela or Russia. And, yes, Russia is a dictatorship masquerading as a “democracy.”
Increasingly, Americans recognize no-debate authoritarianism is where trump, in his fevered insanity, demands the country go. The republicans have jumped onto that bandwagon. Their attempt to dismantle the PPACA. No debate. Their stolen Supreme Court nomination. No debate. The tax bill. No debate. To state otherwise is not correct.
This from the party that when it can win an argument calls the other side racist and thinks its won. The left hasn’t been able to discuss its issues in years because it has none.
The two major political parties in this country put up Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump as their respective candidates in 2016. That sums up the appalling state of American politics in general, and the moribund status of each party in particular.
I was never all that crazy about high school, and I never even sat at the mean girls’ table. Every time this man opens his mouth I hear everything I hoped I would leave behind when I got to be grown up.
What’s amazing is how you could switch out ‘Tweets’ and ‘Trump’ with ‘Comments on GoComics Board’ and about half the posters from both sides of the aisle on this cartoon and you get the same result. Don’t believe me? Re-read some of the comments above.

Trump Disciples actually believe that when he calls Elizabeth Warren ‘Pocahontas’, that it proves she is wrong.
Because analysis skills. Deep analysis skills.

It may be because President Trump doesn’t accept accusations based on anonymous (i.e. fake) unproven sources.

We are talking about twitter – there isn´t enough space to adress the issues.

“An adolescent insult”? I don’t think Trump is even that grown up.

Trump has just perfected what Newt Gingrich and Grover Norquist, with help from Lee Atwell started.

That’s not a realistic tweet. Try this:
“Loser Carmen, the “star” of a comic strip that is being dropped by thousands of newspapers because nobody ever reads it. SAD!"

Just like people flinging accusations that ruin people with no trial and very little evidence or none at all.
