Any ideas what the partial words on the blackboard behind Duke’s shoulder are? Count, inde, Sur, and No. Yesterday ironia, coun, ironia (ironia???), suppl, tenor, coun. I will guess country, independence, supply, but the rest? It looks like a meaningful little joke, but I cant figure it out.
North and Meese III set Noriega up in the drug business, then we invade, ’er of course “arrest” Noriega, blow up a bunch of locals, and install a “friendlier” government, just like in at least 35 other countries since ’Nam where we succeeded in overthrowing governments, either covertly or overtly. Pinochet and the Argentine generals were also smooth moves, right?
Men are so simple of mind, and so much dominated by their immediate needs, that a deceitful man will always find plenty who are ready to be deceived.” ― Niccolò Machiavelli
Noriega literally declared war on the USA. The old-fashioned way, not an “insurgency” or “freedom fighters” or any other euphemism. He declared war. What did he think would happen? That we would surrender, or “sue for peace”?

“It’ll be up to you to make this a country we can all be proud of”. Sounds like the mantra for the 2020 election.

Nation-building is NOT the responsibility of our government or our military.

I wonder why Obama’s wife and kids stay with him. Maybe they like the money.
