Some people are satisfied to ‘just feel kinda down’ without having the extra burden of the details

And don’t forget about the homework for you to do over the holiday break. An algebra teacher gave us one hundred problems to do during Christmas.

You’ve got a good teacher if you know what ‘inexplicably’ means while you’re still in the fourth grade.

When people talk about athletes like Wayne Gretzky (which I guess means when they talk about Gretzky, since there’s really never been another athlete like Wayne Gretzky), they almost always get around to his peripheral vision, how he could see everything going on around him all at once.

Clearly I am not a Wayne Gretzky-caliber writer, as I look at today’s strip FROM the periphery and only now realize I’m going to throw a few people off with Mrs. Olsen reciting numbers of things the week before Christmas. They’re going to go looking for a partridge and a pear tree that just aren’t in this joke. Oops.

    A thousand pardons.

And 99 bottles of beer on the wall.

    Ninety-six tears,

    8 quizzes,

    four school days,

    three worksheets,

    and one fine day.

I thought it was “a pair of partridges in a tree”…
