Dogs are nice to have as pets and they can sound an alarm by barking when strangers are near (which we usually ignore or go out wondering what they are barking at) but unless they are specifically trained they don’t make good guard dogs. Intruders at the door will silence them easily. Don’t count on a god to save you.
