Or, if you raise your legs far enough, you can kiss your butt goodbye.

So you’re in the clear of a skunk if you’re 15 feet and an inch away or 16 feet away from it?

. . . my uncle grew up during the Great Depression in rural Missouri. In order to financially help his family, he and his brother would sell skunk pelts for about a quarter each, since they were considered pests that destroyed chickens and eggs. Not having access to a gun, he would reach in a skunk hole and pull it out, then hitting it on the head to kill it. One had to be quick to avoid getting sprayed. One day, his brother reached in and pulled out a skunk, but when he tried hitting it, he missed and got sprayed. The poor kid kept trying to hit it and kept missing it, getting sprayed more! This must have been quite a site, because EVERY time my uncle recounted the story, he’d laughed so much, there would be tears in his eyes. I don’t believe in animal cruelty, though to watch my uncle, while he told this story about his poor brother’s encounter with a skunk, was just fun to watch.

M&Ms would have been much better in ‘Nam than the “Tropical Bar” we would get. They wouldn’t melt in you mouth either. Didn’t taste too good. Didn’t know anyone who liked them.

Years ago, I was driving at night, with someone tailgating me, and a skunk started across the road. Couldn’t swerve because of the hill (danger of head-on) plus one never knows when a tailgater might try to pass. So, tried to straddle him, and as I went over heard " Clunk!" Looked in rear view mirror, and it appeared something was spraying up as the next car went over!

Back in one room school days, one kid ran a trap line going to and from school. One morning, he had caught a skunk. He tried to be a nice guy and turn him loose. (He got sent back home that morning!)

Sitting in the yard one dark night with my wife to be. A dark something wandered by . I asked “what was that”? She replied “That’s just midnight” (family cat). So I continued “Then what’s that on the porch”? Turned it was just a skunk moseying along.

And the M & Ms were in shades of brown until the 1950s. BTE, did you here about the inspector at the M & M factory who got fired? He was throwing away all the "w"s

By my reckoning, a skunk crossed my path within spraying range but paid me no attention.

A while back, in one year I trapped 11 skunks – you can get used to it….But I learned it’s only a degree or two from the smell of a Starbuck’s Coffee House – every time I get near one I wonder is that a Starbucks or a skunk and look around…Luckily my elderly neighbor died and they cleaned up her garage where the skunks nested…..
