Calvin, you wouldn’t be a tiny pterodactyl if weren’t such a tiny kid.

Tiny pterosaur species existed in real life, Calvin. So Hobbes wasn’t being inaccurate.

Fish or foul, pterasaurs are neither. They had pre-feather coverings but still weren’t birds.

Hobbes’s last line HAS TO BE SAID IN DAFFY DUCK’S VOICE.

Calvin makes LOTS of big mistakes

Why, it’s Duck Dodgers in the Twenty-Third-and-a-Half Century!

One of my all time favorite strips. I keep telling my DIL to use the set of Calvin and Hobbes books as a reference guide, not for entertainment. Because not only does my grandson resemble Calvin physically, but behind his adorable big blue eyes lurks Spaceman Spiff.

Transmogrification runs amuck.

Prepare to be nibbled!

Hmm… pterodactyls have bits that can work as fingers on the trigger; ducks don’t. If that’s so, Calvin can turn Hobbes back but Hobbes can’t turn Calvin back. The story line depended on Calvin not being able to transform himself.

I am constantly amazed at how many of these story lines I never saw when I was a kid and this comic was new

If there was a top 10 of my individual C&H strips, this would be there. Hobbes using the word “willies”(how many big dinosaurs has he seen?), Hobbes sticking his tongue out at the cranky pterodactyl, and the “duck v. dino” denouement in the end. Genius, that’s all I can say, sheer genius.

What a Daffy choice.

Oh…..its on.

On the other hand, Hobbes can now be the new spokesduck for AFLAC.

Hobbes should have ducked.

In the last panel, Hobbs should say “You’re…dith-pickable!”

Calvin got all his ducks in a row.

I’m sure Calvin terrifies the neighborhood with out a transmogrifier

I love how he still has Calvin’s face in the final panel even in his new form. Hobbes is there in his with the mouth and eyes, too.

Funny, I’d be terrified to see a live pterodactyl of any size.
